going to the bathroom has gotten difficult.......

headphoamz responds:

Shoulda brought an extra flashlight, steam :D

great work guys i love the strings here :)

i can hear edirol here haha nice

i really like the strings theme and the way you played around with the beat. i am curious on what you used/do to make that clockwork like sound at 2:05

though i think it needs a theme that stands-out (melody)
or just like what headphoamz said, vocals would be great!

InvisibleObserver responds:

I really hate Edirols cello/viola/violin solo instruments is a big thing I learned from this file.

Clockwork is like nuts and a contact microphone style of sampling on breaking stuff, so it just picks up the high end clicks and cracks. Then some pogo and pitch changing to alter how the sound plays out. For your desired steam punk-ish sound turning pre-existing foley into ticky stuff shouldn't be too hard with a little bit of high Q/resonant HP filtering, repetition and pitch shifting on samples.

Hey dude well firstly id like to say that the production is great especially low-ends of this piece really solid and balance

for composition well it does need a melody although i think there is a descant one but still needs a melodic theme all, i like the rhythmic guitar riff though.

overall the production is great everything is clear but it lacks in the composition department
you should work on this again if you get the chance

InYourDreams responds:

Hey steam!
Thanks for reviewing! :D... yeah, I did the composition in like 30 min xD... Nothing can come right of doing it like that, I guess... but time was short for me. I definitely will work more on this one, after I finish the stuff I've to do first. I like where this song is going...
And I'll definitely finish my original idea for this round aswell, when I get the time! :)

this is just amazing you made it sounds real even the noises that guitar players make although there are time that it sounds that its played in a really advance VST (specifically in the running scales)

anyways great work

SoundChris responds:

Thanks a lot! To get the running sequences even more realistic is quite hard because you have to tweak the velocity and length of the single notes. Also to get the exact speed almost killed my nerves :D Glad you liked it!

a very soulful performance and i think i have track with the same title hehe :)

the harmony is lovely though im not a fan of a concept of heaven the lyrics is still lovely
and some of the progression reminds me of ayreon

headphoamz responds:

Heck yeah, Steam! Thanks so much. ^_^ Also, dang! I didn't know you already claimed that song title. A dork is me.

i think ive reached nirvana awesome track dude
asian music pawns western music anytime
i love the atmosphere and those gongs are lovely :) and as always awesome singing

good luck in this round dude

etherealwinds responds:

that's awesome! ;D thank you steamp! good luck to you too!

strangely enough this seems to compliment etherealwinds' track (agnos) i was listening to the playlist
and somehow it connected haha

anyways i love that tender piano at the beginning and even though its a miniature piano (which i prefer)
it contains different moods and emotion.

cant say much besides this is a really tender, cold, emotional piece well done (mayhaps providing some sheet music?) >:)

ChronoNomad responds:

Thanks, Steam! Well, I am up against etherealwinds this round, but there's also a similar sense of melancholy and hope in our individual compositions. I hadn't actually considered any similarity until you mentioned it, so that's kind of unexpectedly cool. :D

Is it just the piano progression that you want? Send me a PM letting me know, as well as how you would like me to send it to you (email or whatever) and I'll see about getting you some sheet music. ^_^

well i cant add much more since everyone pretty much said everything.
so let me just say this is simply spectacular

etherealwinds responds:

that's such an honour, thank you ever so much steamy!!

well i find this wonderful

and yes the melody does stick on you but though i wish there was another theme at the last part after the vibe/music box section or a different variation of the first theme :) and the percussions gives that impression of a snowy field, for me at least.

anways may fortuna bless you in round 3

SourJovis responds:

It could've been longer. Maybe I will add to it later.
